Forum launched its private equity strategy in 2018 and has completed 6 investments to date. The private equity group is currently investing its first investment fund, Forum Urban Infrastructure Fund I (the “Fund”). The Fund strategy is to invest in and manage a portfolio of growth equity and project finance investments in building services and urban infrastructure businesses and platforms where value can be created through scale, diversification, structuring and implementation of best practices.


Position Overview:

We are looking for a smart, driven and results oriented individual to join Forum’s growing private equity investment group in the role of Vice President.

The Vice President will work closely with senior team members to help lead deal teams in originating, executing and managing investments and will play an important role in the success of Forum’s private equity strategy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead/help deal teams in origination, research, analysis and structuring of investment opportunities
  • Participate in deal evaluation and thesis construction; formulate views on investment merits/risks
  • Conduct due diligence on opportunities including commercial, financial, technical, tax and legal
  • Make investment recommendations based on the results of the deal team’s diligence and analysis
  • Create/oversee drafting of internal memos for and presentations to investment committees
  • Develop/oversee complex financial models and valuation analyses
  • Manage deal execution to ensure high quality analysis, structuring, documentation and outcomes
  • Monitor ongoing investments and create/oversee drafting of investment performance summaries
  • Lead/participate in portfolio value creation, including identifying and executing on strategic priorities
  • Build and maintain relationships with portfolio company management, partners, consultants and lenders to review performance, strategy, forecasting, industry trends and other operating activities
  • Play active role in building Forum’s private equity platform (e.g., fundraising, recruiting and strategy)
  • Provide training, mentorship, guidance and support to junior investment professionals

Candidate Profile

  • 5+ years of experience in a transactional environment, including investment banking, private equity, private credit, venture capital, project development, and/or corporate development
  • University degree in Finance, Economics, Business/Commerce or related discipline
  • CFA/CPA/CA designations considered assets
  • Experience analyzing, structuring and documenting investments/projects, ideally in buyside capacity
  • Experience in credit is highly beneficial – including corporate, project and structured finance
  • Experience helping businesses identify and execute on value creation considered an asset
  • Entrepreneurial mindset combined with desire to succeed in an agile, high performance team culture
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, stakeholders and conduct thorough diligence
  • Advanced knowledge of financial, valuation, accounting and economic concepts
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in-depth financial modeling and investment analysis
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and leadership capabilities
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and high integrity
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada and travel across North America
